---It seems that it will rain. Take my umbrella.

---______. I have a raincoat in my bag.

A. I’d love to.  B. Sorry.  C. Thanks anyway.  D. No problem.

4. What is the relationship(关系)between the two speakers?

      A. Father and son.   B. Headmaster and teacher.   C. Teacher and student.

---M: I’m afraid you’ve make a lot of mistakes in the test, Julia.

---W: I’m very sorry, Mr Smith. I’ll be more careful next time.

对话中“I”告诉Julia在考试中出了一些错误,Julia在表示歉意时称呼“I”为Mr Smith,可见他们的关系应该是teacher and student。故选C。

7. How long will it take to go to Beijing on the next train?

      A. Less than two hours.  B. More than two hours.  C. Two and a half hours.

---W: What time is the next train to Beijing, please?

    ---M: It’s 8:30 a.m.

---W: When does it get there?

---M: At 10:23 a.m.

18. Why does the woman call the man?

       A. She can’t find her daughter.     B. Her daughter didn’t go to school.

   C. She wants to ask for a leave for her daughter.

对话中“she”因为她的女儿“went to school early this morning and hasn’t come back yet”而向警方求助。据此考生可以判断“She can’t find her daughter”为正确选项,即应选A。

5. How will the woman probably go to Xinhua Bookstore?

A. By bus.   B. On foot.   C. By taxi.

---W: Excuse me, sir. Which bus should I take to Xinhua Bookstore?

---M: Take No.13 bus and get off at Bank of China.

---W: Thank you. I think I prefer to walk. I never take No.13 bus.

But the No.13 bus is always too crowded. I prefer to walk there.”

另外短文中出现了三个定语从句“There are three places that I love the most and spend a lot of time in”、“Another place I love is the library”和“The other place that’s cool is Top Food Center”,这样的句子已经超出了学生现有的知识范围,笔者认为不宜出现在试卷尤其是听力测试中。

28. ---I can’t stop playing computer games.

---For your health, I’m afraid you ______.

   A. can   B. may   C. must   D. have to

30. ---Jim, can you help me to wash the dishes?

---Sorry, Dad. I ______ to the shop.

   A. go   B. went   C. am going   D. have been

33. ---I suppose we’ll go to plant trees next week.

---Terrific! Planting trees is a lot of fun. I’d like to ______ you.

   A. visit   B. join   C. follow   D. meet

58. These two passages are ______.

   A. diaries    B. reports        C. news        D. ads

61. During his trip, Subaru wasn’t able to communicate with people for ______.

   A. five days       B. a week       C. about a month      D. about two months

短文中说“Then, on August 11…five days later, his radio stopped…on September 13, Subaru sailed into San Francisco”,也就是说,Subaru与外界联系的“radio”自8月16日起就不能工作了,从此他无法与其他任何人取得联系,这种情况一直持续到9月13日他的船平安驶入San Francisco,其间共有24天,即“about a month”,故本题C是正确选项。

69. What does the word “pressure” mean in Chinese?

70. What would be the best title for this passage?

       A. Get Higher Scores in Exams         B. An Unlucky Cheating

   C. Stop Cheating in Exams            D. A Dishonest Person

四个答案均与短文内容有关,但文章的重点在于劝告学生在考试中不要作弊,因为“your performance cannot measured by your classmate’s work”,而且“teachers and parents want students to succeed by learning on their own and doing the best they can”。

What a pity / It’s a great pity / What a shame / That’s too bad等,这些说法都可以作为第77小题的答案。

在口语交际中有相当多的冗余信息,人们可能会用类似“What I mean to say is …”

It’s the moment for your big math exam. You wait nervously for the test to drop onto your desk.

Your teacher says to begin. You pick up your pencil, ready to answer the first question. Seconds later, you nervously look at the paper of the boy next to you, and start to copy his answers.

I saw almost the same thing happen in my English class. In a test, six or seven students read pieces of cheat(作弊)papers under their seats.

I am angry with these acts of dishonesty(不诚实). I’m not saying that I’m a good student or that I’ve never cheated. I once wrote the answers on my hand for a history test and, unluckily, was caught by my teacher. Because this teacher was one of my favorites, there were no words to describe how sorry I felt at once. I thought cheating would help me keep my straight A’s. Little did I know that I was only hurting myself.

Maybe students feel the need to cheat because of pressure from parents, teachers, and even classmates. However, teachers and parents want students to succeed by learning on their own and doing the best they can.

You’ve probably heard teachers say, “I want to see your own work, not that of the person next to you” a million times, but it’s true. Your performance cannot be measured(衡量)by your classmate’s work.

Also, do you really want your classmates thinking you’re dishonest person?

67. From the passage, we can know that cheating will only hurt ______.

   A. yourself      B. your classmates      C. your teacher      D. your parents

68. How did the writer feel when he was caught cheating in an exam?

   A. Angry.     B. Sorry.         C. Frightened.      D. Unlucky.

69. What does the word “pressure” mean in Chinese?

70. What would be the best title for this passage?

   A. Get Higher Scores in Exams         B. An Unlucky Cheating

   C. Stop Cheating in Exams            D. A Dishonest Person

Many Americans find silence(沉默)uncomfortable during a dinner. So in the United States people often make “small talk” in certain social situations(社交场合). Small talk is about different topics, only for keeping a conversation going. The topics might include the weather, sports, college lessons, clothing, food, etc. Small talk is very useful in social situations when you meet someone for the first time, or when polite conversation is expected but no serious discussion is wanted.

It is common(常见的)but not necessarily expected that one knows someone in a group before talking with him or her in conversation. In fact, at a party, “May I join you?” and a self-introduction is useful enough to get a welcome from a group and to join in a conversation. In some places, such as a concert hall or a theatre, a waiting room or a classroom, it is common for strangers to start a conversation even without an introduction.

People in the States expect those whom they speak to stop whatever they are doing and listen. As a rule, the conversation distance(距离)between two people is at least two or three feet. Standing very close will make many Americans feel uncomfortable.

71. What is “small talk” used for?

72. What would you do if you want to join in a conversation at a party in the USA?

73. What’s the correct distance between two Americans in a conversation?

74. How do many Americans feel when you stand very close to them in a conversation?

75. Do you think serious discussion is wanted between strangers in social situations in the USA? Why or why not?

Dear Sue,

You asked about my town. It’s a great place to live. There are three places that I love the most and spend a lot of time in. Firstly, there is the park. It’s a great place because it’s so big and it’s just a short walk from my home. I go there every day after school and play a quick game of football with my friends. Another place I love is the library. It’s new and has a lot of books. I love reading and I do all my homework there. The other place that’s cool is Top Food Center. The food there costs a little but it is delicious. All the restaurants there sell different kinds of food, so there’s always something different to eat.

That’s my town. What about yours?

Please write back and tell me about it.

Yours,

Amy
